Instructions
Baking the Cake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Carefully stir in the hot water. The batter will be thin.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Making the Kahlua Glaze
While the cake is still warm, gently poke holes all over the top using a skewer or fork.
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the Kahlua and powdered sugar until smooth.
Pour the Kahlua glaze evenly over the warm cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
Let the cake cool completely before serving.
Notes
This cake is best served at room temperature. For an extra boozy kick, you can increase the Kahlua in the glaze.
