Homemade mulled wine is easy to make in the slow cooker, infused with citrus, honey, spices, and a splash of bourbon. Perfect for holiday entertaining!
Combine red wine, orange zest, segmented orange, whole cloves, cinnamon sticks, ginger root, bourbon, and honey in a 3 to 4-quart slow cooker pot.
Stir all ingredients gently and cover the slow cooker with a lid.
Cook on the LOW setting for 1 to 2 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the wine to warm through.
Remove the lid, stir the mulled wine, and taste. Adjust with additional honey if a sweeter profile is desired.
Ladle the warm mulled wine into mugs, being careful to leave out the spices. Garnish each serving with a fresh orange slice, rosemary sprig, and/or a cinnamon stick, if desired, and serve immediately.
To keep the mulled wine warm while serving, leave the slow cooker on the 'Warm' setting.
Notes
To keep the mulled wine warm for serving, you can leave the slow cooker on the "Warm" setting. Adjust honey to your sweetness preference.
