A comforting and aromatic Earl Grey latte, famously known as a London Fog, made with strong brewed tea, steamed milk, and a touch of vanilla or sweetener.
0.75cupStrongly Brewed Earl Grey TeaOr use 1 Earl Grey teabag steeped in boiling water for 5 minutes
0.25cupMilk (dairy or non-dairy)Whole milk or half-and-half works well for frothing
1teaspoonVanilla Syrup or SweetenerAdjust to taste; honey or sugar works too
Instructions
Preparation Steps
Brew the Earl Grey tea. Place the teabag (or loose leaf tea in an infuser) in a mug and pour 3/4 cup of boiling water over it. Let it steep for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bag/infuser.
While the tea is steeping, heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat or in the microwave until steaming hot (do not boil).
Froth the heated milk using a milk frother or whisk until it is bubbly and foamy. Alternatively, vigorously shake the hot milk in a sealed jar for about 30 seconds until foamy.
Add your sweetener or vanilla syrup to the brewed tea and stir to dissolve.
Pour the steamed milk over the tea, holding back the foam with a spoon. Once the mug is mostly full, spoon the foam on top. Stir gently and enjoy immediately.
Notes
For an extra creamy latte, use half-and-half instead of regular milk. For a London Fog with a hint of floral flavor, use Earl Grey tea infused with lavender.
