Sausage Gravy

  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 0.33 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk whole milk recommended
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Casserole Base

  • 2 cans refrigerated biscuits like Pillsbury Grands
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the pork sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.

  • Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until lightly browned.

  • Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until the gravy has thickened. Season with black pepper.

  • Cut each biscuit into quarters and place them in the prepared baking dish. Pour the sausage gravy evenly over the biscuits.

  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.

Notes
